Fedor or Anderson Silva. First off, the better fighter of the two will forever be an opinion unless they ever fight. I am a fan of both and I saw the points made in favor of Fedor. Now, allow me to point out some points in favor of Silva. Fedor's reign was during a time were people were still getting into the grove of cross training. We had the one dimensional era knowing one art where Royce Gracie dominated. Then the good on the ground & good on the feet era were Don Frye & Marco Ruas came in. Next, the beginning of cross training on a whole new level where Fedor reigned. Finally, the result of the new breed that have cross trained and are now top of the food chain where we now see the likes of Jones Bones, JDS & Cain. Ok, Fedor was a beast and dominated during his era which was close to the current era. We all saw what happened as he started to compete in the current era. Silva has dominated in the current era. Silva did want to fight Fedor according to Ed Soares and I know for a fact that Fedor claimed Silva was to small....yet Fedor fought Matt Lindland. Fedor lost 3 in a row....Silva never lost 3 in a row. Silva has held gold in the biggest and most drug tested mma org we have...the UFC....Fedor never did. Fedor got whooped so bad that he could not come out of the corner to continue vs Big Foot Silva. Anderson has never been dominated and beat up like that to a point where he had to stop. Fedor is younger and retired after safely taking 3 easy fights to help him go out on a good note due to his 3 straight losses while Anderson is older and still competing at the highest level. Silva fought more #1 contenders than Fedor (well he was champ). The only common opponent for the two is Dan Henderson. Dan was tapped by Silva but KOed Fedor. Like I said earlier though, the better fighter will always be an opinion unless they decide to fight. Fedor would have to come out of retirement, not be scared of his record being tarnished more and fight. Silva has 10 more fights on his contract so he obviously not scared.
